Can you put 26 wheels on a 29er frame




















The BB height would be very low I would of thought too, so pedals would struggle clearing a lot of trail obstacles, overall it would be a bit rubbish! You never know you might like it so much you never go back to suspension. Surely running a smaller than intended wheel would result in an abundance, rather than a shortage, of tyre clearance? What about if you buy some 29er forks and run your 26 wheels for now?

You can simply fill the tires to max pressure for when you plan on riding on the road, and then let out a bit of air before riding the trails. A mountain bike with 29 inch wheels, just like practically everything else that you could change on a mountain bike, also has some downsides. Notably, the bike will be heavier, which can be a big problem for some situations such as when you are going uphill or having to do any hike a bike sections in a trail.

Improve this question. Are you sure it's a 29" wheel bike? I googled the Trek Cali and only found Frame says Virtual 14", Actual 13". It is running 29x2 Bontager with a 29" fork up front. If so, wheels just looking too big are not really a problem. I have trouble believing a 9-year-old can ride a 29" bike. How tall is she? Yes- good kids bikes are hens teeth and expensive for the years you get out of them.

The bike IS too big for your daughter, anything you can do to make it a better fit will be a big benefit. Also consider shorter cranks as well.
